royal 435dx register display problems. ?

the numbers on the clerk side are not legible. Register has been stored in a hot attack of my home for 2 years in its original box. Can this be fixed or should I trash this thing?

It's possible that the LCD display has failed (especially if the display is black on that side). Might be cheaper just to trash it.
