citroen berlingo 2001 hdi van?

engine starts and runs ok after a few miles the engine cuts out', I turn of the ignition then switch on [you here the fuel pump running] then you can start the engine this can happen at intermittent times
the engine warning light remains on
suspect fuel pump?
any suggestions ?
