how can I replace my on off switch?

The on/off switch is faulty in that it will not switch on I have tried to find a replacement switch but as this washer is obsolete I am unable to source one is it possible to replace the switch with a different type? I can short the switch and the washer starts so I know it is the switch at fault I am not bothered if its just a toggle switch as long as I can use my washer again the make and model is Kew Hobby 1500 also how would I wire it It has four wires but do not know which do what is it possible to have just a normal two way switch possible taped to the handle? any help would be greatly appreciated Thank You

If the switch has 4 wires it will be two pole - single throw (DPST) where D stands for Dual - meaning two wires come into the switch and two wires go out.

Operating the switch connects and disconnects the wires for on and off.

In the USA two-way means connecting one wire to either of two outputs (SPDT) but in the UK two way means controlling one light from two separate switches.

You need a waterproof DPST switch fitted inside the case and capable of handling the load.

Use Google -select images - enter DPST and see what's available.

Switches may be had from hobby electronics stores like Radio Shack and Maplins.

Under no circumstances should you mess about with externally mounted switches and sticky tape - not if you value your life.
