My Sony RDR-HDC100 model dvd recorder will not stay on. When I turn it on its says welcome then loads and as soon as loading is finished it turns itself off. Any suggestions on a fix ?

in front at the right hand top, hold down the stop button then at the left press the start button and the unit will reset

(sony rdr-hdc100 swithes off after a few seconds.) My answer was to press stop on the remote control while "loading" . Seems it is trying to play from the hard drive, pressing stop halted that. I had tried many other things from the Internet, but none worked. What made me try that was that I noticed hdd was shown on the front, so I assumed it was trying to play from there.
