display window is showing REG?

a member of staff caught a button so now the till is showing REG even if i turn key to another setting it is still showing REG could not enter any more takings, it would not let me take a Zreading, or open draw it was as if it had a lock on it, how can i fix this

It sounds like you haven't finished in REG mode. Most cash registers won't let you cancel just by turning the key. You should turn back to REG mode and check whether you have a sale in progress by pressing SUBTOTAL
