Home emergency plumber replaced both PCB's, now the timeclock which worked immediately before, does not work. Could this be related ie not reconnected properly? They say not and won't come out.

I checked it and the clock is still working but not perating the boiler at all, switching between off, timed and on makes no difference. The only way to control the boiler now is switching between hot water only and heating & hot water, the latter means the heating is on all the time. I looked at the PCB connection and it seems alright, the board is different to the old one but I guess may be an update,it is a Saunier board. If I bought a stand alone timer would it be straight forward to wire it up or not, the internal one has 4 wires.

i would guess so. it may not be connected as it should be. i would get them back out to recheck.
