It seems to drain ok and the tumble dryer works. The drum turns, however it won't spin at the end of the wash cycle.

Is there anything I can do myself?

For your latest question i had the same problem recently. I took off the panel at the bottom of the machine (front). Undid the screw and twisted of the cap. The amount of water that came out of there almost flooded my kitchen. Put my machine back together and to my surpirse it now dry's clothes well withput fillling up with water.
