My LG model WM1812CW washing machine says FE in the display?

My LG Tromm model WM1812CW washing seems to be over filling and has leaked at the bottom of the door. It filled with water about 1/3 of the way up on the clear plastic part of the door when it was filling at the start or a load. I was able to shut the water off so it couldn't continue to fill and it finally went on to pump the water out and rinse and finish the cycle I did turn the water back on once it resumed what appeared to be normal operation. We have also noticed that when it overfills it doesn't correctly use hot or cold water. We may have selected cold water and it will open the hot water valve. We were using the machine today and it leaked from under the machine near the back. It also displayed an "FE" code. Does anyone have a suggestion for fixing the problem?
