re: timing chain on a kenmore 14 model 41612225?

hi. my thread keeps breaking, ive changed the tension and new needles, rethreading bobin...nothing is working. please help

Hello Debbie,
It is very unlikely that your machine will need any major repair, that model is very well made, I do feel that it is a combination of all you have mentioned, make sure the top is threaded properly, make sure the flat side of the needle faces in towards the machine, the tension is usually set about 4 or 5, very important to remember to have the presser foot up when you thread the machine to make sure the thread goes between the tension discs, common fault that, make usre you definitely have the bobbin in the bobbin case the correct way round, have a look at your throat plate make sure there are no rough edges where the needle goes in, if you have hit the plate with the plate with the needle at some time that will cause a problem, with the bobbin case you should just about be able to pull the thread through with some resistence, hope this helps, you may have already fixed it by now, only found this site a short time ago.
