Hello Chris, I have just seen your request on how to find the the chip and replace it. Maybe you have gotten the answer since. However here is my way of describing it. When you have taken off the cover, in usually the rear output to the speakers you should see a quite large chip (ic) screwed on to a heat sink with fourteen (14) pins on. All you have to do is remove this by unsoldering it and refitting the new one and soldering it and screwing it tightly. This should do the job. Happy soldering!
