ELECTRIC PROBLEM PEUGEOT MK 1 306 DIESEL?

I HAVE NO FEED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE STARTER SOLINOIDE AND THE ALTERNATOR IS NOT CHARGING, BOTH FAULTS APPEARED AT THE SAME TIME, THE STARTER WORKS IF A DIRECT FEED IS PROVIDED FROM THE BATTERY, BOTH THE STARTER AND ALTERNATOR HAVE LIVE FEEDS TO THEM. HAS ANYONE ANY IDEAS TO THE CAUSE? COULD IT BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ALARM?

Mine had a similar problem earlier this year. I took it to peugeot and they identified the problem as the earth lead from the battery to the chassis. Try cleaning the earth first or if that doesn't work a new one is about £15
