How can I remove a UPVC handle which I can't unlock?

I have several UPVC window handles which do not open. The lock is broken, so I can't move the handle out of the way of one of the fixing screws.

What is the best way to remove a handle which you can't unlock?

Use a hacksaw to cut the handle off and expose the screw behind. Unscrew the remains of the old handle and fit a new handle'
