I have an AMSTRAD 40FE01 Digibox, have been experiencing various problems with reception, frozen pictures, no signal etc etc, was advised that the dish could be alligned wrongly.
So I moved the dish to various new positions, no improvement, I then returned to its old position but the signal would "not lock"

I don't think that you have returned it to its's original position because the error that you are etting means that the signal from the dish is too bad to be usable. You need to realign the disk again. You can get satellite meters quite cheaply now or use a TV set. Alternatively get someone to align the dish for you.
