My washing machine isn't picking up the detergent properly. Help!?

Integrated APM 8512 machine.. Most of the detergent stays in the soap dispenser drawer. I have taken the drawer out and washed & dried it but still no joy. The machine still goes through the programme and some cleaning is done

We were having the same problem because of the water, I think there is some problem with the heating element.
