You have been given wrong info by other poster. They are obviously not familiar with F&P washing machines. To lift the top, Unplug machine from power. Remove the lid by pulling up on one side. Then remove the 2 plastic plugs at front of top deck. Under the plugs is 2 screws. Remove them. Then on the back of the top panel there is a clip on each side which locks top deck to the body. Prise them out with a flat screwdriver and pull up deck to free it. Then swivel top deck up and back. You can't take it right off because of wiring so get someone to hold it up while you work on the inlet. Watch out for out of balance lever at right rear as you lift the top up. You don't want to break it.
