how can I fix my Fisher & Paykel gwl15 washer?

my Fisher & Paykel gwl15 washer washes, but won't drain or spin. I restarted, to no avail. I have siphoned the water with a hose, to see if it would at least spin, but it only makes a quiet bump noise, every second or so. No spin. What should I try, in hopes of avoiding calling a repairman?

It won't spin until all the water is out. There is still some water under the spin bowl you can't see or get at. The bumping is the machine doing it's normal checks to see if all water has gone. You probably have a blockage in the drain pump. Remove the pump and clear any blockage. Put pump back and test by putting it on spin. Be aware that when you remove the pump, the last of the water will come out on to the floor. Make sure power is off and you have some towels ready.
