Intermittent fault on Potterton Suprima 60?

Hi
My boiler a Potterton Suprima 60 has developed an itermittent fault after 4 years of perfect operation. The lock-out operates but can immediately be restarted on the re-set button. This can happen 2 or 3 times a day. What could be the problem ?
Many thanks.

the boiler tries to ignite but the gas valve is not opening for combustion

I have a similar problem but have replaced the circuit board with a modified one and the fault continues. What is next step?

I have this dreaded problem too. Did the relays fix the problem? Looked for the relays on Rapid Electronis but none to be found. There are two on farnell.com but with one difference in spec; one is SPDT and the other is SPST, which one should I get if it did work?

I'd always assumed that the problem was our mid-position valve getting stuck, however, the problem has been getting so frequent that I've stayed at the boiler to monitor the behaviour and I am hearing relays triggering but the boiler does not always attempt its ignition sequence and may give up at any stage - even immeidately after successful ignition. Thus I'm convinced it's the PCB and rather than spend a huge amount on a replacement, I'm spending £14.52 inc VAT P&P to get 3 replacement relays first. Since the boiler is 12 years old, the relays could easily have worn out contacts by now! They are OMRON G6RN 12VDC - available at suppliers including RS amd Rapid Electronics.

if your suprima is under 5 years old potterton will fix it for free.ring them to find out.

The problem with this boiler is that the PCB is subjected to the boiler vibration and the solder joints cracked. Rectently, I've also found there are 3 relays on the PCB that the contacts no longer functioning. They need to be replaced. It can be found in RS (237-5362).

I have just booked Birtish Gas to do the repair for £168. My local Haeting Engineer quoted £270.

The £168 includes Servicing and Repqir of the fault.

Does anyone know what is actually wrong with the original PCB?? and can that be repaired instead of buying a new one??.

british gas will fit you a new pcb for a one off payment £167.00

I read elsewhere on the web that you can buy a reconditioned PCB from http://www.cetltd.com/default.asp
They are about half price.

I don't understand why householders have to pay to rectify a Potterton Suprima product that was shipped with a known fault.

potterton know all about the re-occuring fault on their suprima boilers....... and have created a modified circuit board to replace the original problematic one!!!! unfortunatly it is over £200. when you replace the circuit board be sure you buy a modified one!
