Bosch WFF 1401 Why has the drum stopped turning?

The problem occurred during the wash cycle of a large curtain, so it may have been too heavy when filled with water. The belt is intact. The drum moves around freely when you turn it manually. During the spin or wash cycle, the water fills and empties as normal and the timer continues to click through its cycle. Is there a sensor that has de-activated the automatic drum rotation? If so, how do I reset it? I would be so grateful for help on this! Many thanks. Fiona

Hey presto!! The brushes were the solution. Many, many thanks for your guidance. Much appreciated!! and also to the gentleman who posted the information on how to change the brushes. I didn't take a note of his name and now I can't find it using the search facility.

Thank you to both of you for your advice. I have passed this info onto our local handyman who is coming over this afternoon to see if he can do the repair for me. I'll keep you posted!

Exactly the same thing happended to my 5 year old Bosch WFD2060 on Friday. I discovered that the motor brushes were worn out. I am an Aircraft electrician by trade and so was able to lengthen the brush wire using an in line crimp just to keep the machine going through the weekend until the new brushes that i've ordered arrive.
