Beko Washing Machine Motor Flashing & Tripping?

Hi,

Switch on my Beko 7kg 1400 spin washing machine and it lights up ok. Put it on a spin cycle and as soon as the motor goes to turn, a flash comes from inside the motor and it trips the machine with no display lights. Switch of machine and leave it for a minute, then switch on and the lights come back on and the machine is ready to go again. I disconnected the plug to the motor and the machine didn't trip. Brushes in motor are good. Noticed a lot of fine black carbon dust inside motor. Not sure if this can cause instant arcing/flashing.

Any advice on possible causes appreciated.

you need to clean ALLcarbon dust from the brush gear, you may need to replace the brush ring, also fit new brushes

I for got to add - after it flashed/banged and tripped, on restarting it, the door lock is now permanently locked.
