Defunct Microwave?

One for the experts who may be visiting this site.

Our visiting grandchildren want to play cooking with our defunct microwave oven that's given up.

Q:-Are there any hidden dangers that say I should not let them and take it to the recycling instead?.

Many thanks.

as long as they don't plug it in or take it apart your ok ,the capacitor inside can store upto 10.000 volts
even when its defunct,it has a bleed resistor in it but it takes a while for all the voltage to drain,so as long as they don't take it apart, they are perfectly safe
