McCullough 338?

The chain has slipped off. What do i need to loosen the get chain back on the blade as it's too tight to slip over.

I quite agree with Terry...
I've seen this far to often.. get some tuition before you hurt yourself,
Remember that a chain saw doesn't take prisoners.. They bite hard...

If you chain has come off, you really need to learn how to use a chain saw before you do some real damage - to yourself.

there is adjustment screw on the body near the plate for doing that job, it lets the inner cog the chain it on move in and out, look for it, and turn it and you will see how it works, when you get the chain back on just turn the screw to make the chain tight, but not too tight, thats why the chain came off. it was not tight, check youtube on chainsaw , and you will see how it done.
