...try again: Switch off, select stop, switch on, switch off. Select a programme. Switch on. 2 slow flashes, 3 three short, fills with water (no drum action), waits about 20 seconds, then dial clicking again. Tried all sorts of combinations, just seems to get more bizare!
Dial clicking has happened in the past but always corrected itself.

I got a similar problem, I get 3 long flashes then 3 short (quick) flashes.
