I have a 3.4 kw Sunhouse night storage heater that has stopped working. The power light at the isolation switch showed power before I isolate all power to the unit. All leads and connections look good apart from one connection near the thermostat. The item in question is connected to one of two small circular devices which appear in series (two conntacts) one of the two connectors appears to have over heated; I not sure what function these two circular devices perform; If I knew their function it my help with the diagnosis. Am I correct in assuming that if the thermostat was inoperative I would have some heat output?
1 of the devices is a cut out it has a button on it the other is a charge limiter, these type of stats have been troublesome.there should be a "field repair kit " available that replaces these two stats with a dual type one,the kit comes complete to convert it.

they are toc,s thermal overload cutouts, they norm have a button in the centre of them that you push down to reset them, they trip because something has been put over the rad,i,e,a towel or coat to dry them off
