How do I convert toilet flush from handle to push button?

The siphon in the toilet cistern has already been replaced once but the same problem is recurring. However hard you depress the handle there's little or no resistance and sometimes more than 1 flush is needed. It's a Shires toilet, approximately 19 years old. As the bathroom suite is coloured, replacement of the toilet is not a preferred option. Can it be converted from lever action to push button & how difficult would this be?

We have a dual flush button on our toilet with built in cistern but have never found the flush as satisfactory as the old lever type. Is is poszible to convert back to a handle flush system?

Thanks Paul & Hi-Spec. Sorry for the delay in replying, I've not been able to access the site for some time. As this is the 3rd time the diaphragm has failed, this time on a syphon less than 5 months old, I think I'll go with changing the whole system to push button.

yes it is possible you can buy a kit from a local merchants which will replace the syphon and handle if you have changed the syphon before by yourself then you can do this i know plumb center do these they are called multi flush valve

sounds like you need a new diaphragm in your syphon. depends on your toilet if it can be converted without seeing. just as easy to fit new diaphagm good as new.
