are u using the remote that came with the tv? or are u trying to use your sky or a multi device remote? if you are using either then you need to find the tv code for the remote to work. if u cant speak to the customer services of the manufacturer. check the batteries are installed the right way round first. if neither of these solutions work, then its quite possible that you have a bit of lemon! thats to say that with thousands of your tv being made,despite stringent quality control, that a duff one has slipped through the net, i am assuming that its a new purchase of course!
