Ideal Classic no heating but have hot water?

HI all, i have just found this fabulous site, I wonder if anyone could help as right now things are just miserable.

I have had on going issues, the latest is no heating for the past month despite paying out over £400, and previously getting ripped off for a further £600 (that a nice little holiday right there - as I say utter misery!)

The boiler, produces hot water, but radiators are stone cold, I have tried everything:

New thermostat
System drained and a new Honeywell 3 port valve fitted
New gas valve
Fan replaced

I then went on You Tube and found that you could slide a switch to get a defective motorised value temporarily working again, this however did not work and ultimately meant that in addition to no heating there was no hot water as well….

Please can someone help, the first engineer was a crook and ripped me off, the second guy is a family friend and its now all very difficult as he has charged me £400 plus and nothing is working and I don't think he knows how to fix it, I can't carry on like this…I'm throwing fortune at this and getting no where (misery!)

Can anyone help at all….thank you very much

Somebody replied get a Gas Safe Reg engineer,I did and he said he had been in the trade for 40yrs, he still didn't know what was wrong with my boiler and only by process of elimination could it be found, maybe!
And this could cost almost as much as a new boiler.
Money for old rope.

ideal classic
no heating
hot water ok

the fact that the boiler fires up for hot water means the problem is unlikely to be with the boiler itself

which means the gas valve and fan were not faulty and unneccessarily replaced

you need 3 things in order for the boiler to fire up for heating [or hot water]

-timer ON
-room thermostat calling [clicks ON]
-3 port valve moving to appropriate position [for heating or hot water or both] and sending power to boiler to fire up

as you have had the 3 port valve and room thermostat replaced [with no result] we can also eliminate these items as the cause of the problem

the only one left is the timer which is not difficult to replace

failing that if you still have no heating [but hot water works] the only rational cause is faulty wiring [between the above system components] which is a lot harder to trace unless you have extensive experience in electrical fault finding

recap
timer [if youre lucky]
or faulty wiring [if youre unlucky]

you have change every parts ,try replace pump or may be timer is faulty ,all boiler work on cycle start from timer is OK ,pump, fan,Room start Is 3 port valve open is power in cylinder start,if all OK than check fuse on PCB , is 240 v,on gas valve...
