E4 code sumpdry?

Hello anybody.
I have checked out all these posts related to the Baumatic BDW 15. My problem is the sump under the float for overfill is dry. My machine drains okay, then starts to fill. But after 30 seconds or so of filling, it goes into fault mode E4 and stops. I also emptied the salt dispenser of water as it made no difference. Could there be a fault which give a false E4 error code? Or has anybody an explanation for this problem?

Gary here. Right, Lincoln Appliance NZ - thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I appreciate that. The microswitch is working correctly both mechanically & electrically. And the polystyrene float is free to float.

It seems that I have managed to get this dishwasher operating again by discovering this; If you press the on/off button to on, then within a second press a program button, you see a number 13 in the display. Close the washer door and it goes through a cycle that lasts over an hour. Now, I can use the washer as intended, on different programmes. I think it's still early to make this a definite fix and I haven't read anything about a program 13 in the instructions manual.

Check the float is not holding the flood switch on and also check the flood switch with a test meter to see if the contacts are clean ( low resistance)

Me again. After many attempts to get the dish washer to go through a complete program - it did, but just one time on the "rapid" program. Now, after x 20 more attempts, it just keeps stopping after 30 seconds of first fill.
