I dropped my thermostat about 2ft onto carpet,. which I wouldn;t have thought would cause a problem.
However the display went blank. I changed the batteries with no effect. Ive dismantled the unit and can find nothing amiss.

Should the display come alive as soon as the batteries are fitted or is there a setup procedure required?
