I have taken the handle off my upvc door but it won't go back?

There is a metal strip in the way preventing the bar going through and the also stopping the top screw.
I can put the locking mechanism and bottom fixing screw through. What is causing this?

push it back out of the way , with a pin /nail ect and put the handle back on
