How do you get the floor tool off the pipe of a Henry Vacuum??

I have bought a new floor tool for my much loved Henry vacuum but cannot get the old one off the metal pipe! Any suggestions?

try spray it with WD40 oil, or if its a plastick head on the metal head , use a hair dryer to heat up the plastick head just were it on the pipe, to expand it, and try turning it , be carefull as it will be hot,
