AEG lavamat turbo 16830 trips electric relay switch?

I have an AEG lavamat turbo 16830 washer dryer which has always worked well. I have never used the dryer option alone but tried it for the first time today. 5 minutes into the drying run the earth relay switch for my plug sockets tripped and now any attempt to switch on the machine in any programme causes the system to immediately trip again. Fuses in the wall plug of the machine and the socket which has its own fuse test fine. I have taken the machine's top cover off exposing the wiring for the condenser/heater unit but all connections look clean and solid. Where is a short likely to be?
