Both DeWalt and Makita are reliable and high grade brands.
More important is the battery chemistry - your DeWalt uses NiCad (Nickel-cadmium) batteries - these require to be fully discharged before recharging for best life.
Alternatively Lithium-ion (Li-ion) which do not need to be fully discharged and are considerably lighter than NiCad for the same power capacity.
I have a Makita drill with two 18V Li-ion batteries and a high speed charger - this means I can buy other power tools in what they call a "naked" form - without battery.
I can't comment on DeWalt - never having owned one of those products - I am very content with my two Makita battery operated tools.
Shop around for the best deals - consider only the newer Li-ion technology and an offer with two batteries - avoid cheaper offers unless they have two Li-ion batteries is my recommendation.
You usually get what you pay for...
When deciding pay attention to the battery - how many Amp Hours and does it transfer to other tools of the same brand.
Good Luck..., December 2015
