How can I fix my Roberts Unologic DAB radio?

I have purchased two Roberts Unologic DAB radios and both have failed to operate on mains power shortly after the guarantee has expired. They both work using batteries and I have tried several mains leads to no avail. The fault appears to be with the DC connector. I thought the first radio was just bad luck but now the second has failed, I wonder if this is a fault with Roberts. Also, does anyone know of a permanently wired in DAB radio (not with push in mains lead)?

Several of the other Roberts DAB radios have built in transformers, eg Gemini 20. However that's not necessarily any better overall. The remote bricks are easier to repair or replace.

If you have tried several KNOWN GOOD adapters to no avail then you may have recourse against the retailer under whatever replaced the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Do a Google search

I can count about 9 DAB radios in my house - they all have external AC/DC power adapters.

I guess that they do this to prevent an internal mains transformer causing interference if placed inside the enclosure.

My experience tells me that a common failure mode with AC adapters is a broken conductor - unseen and inside the insulation - invariably where the wire bends at one end or the other.

I also guess that what you seek is very probably not available.
