How do I amplify the sound of an incoming call?

I need to amplify the ringing tone on my telephone. I am semi deaf and if I am more than three feet away I can't hear it. Can I attach a loud bell or chime to the back of the phone to amplify the sound??? My phone is a standard Telstra phone.

Contact your service provider and explain that you have hearing difficulties. If they are sympathetic, which they should be, then they should provide you with a Tone Caller which can plug in and you will be able to hear. They usually provide these free of charge.
