how can I have just hot water from my Protherm 40 - 50 CI boiler?

The boiler operates heating and presumerably hot water. But I do not know how to switch it heat hot water only. I have just moved in.

the heating and hot water would normally be controlled by a timeswitch (aka programmer or controller), so find that, note the model and download a manual (Google search)

Thanks for the help. I have looked at the manual but it doesn't specifically say how to turn on to hot water only so I guess it might be on the pump itself. There are three positions for a slider on the side, I, II and III. Could it be this that I need to change?

Why not do a simple google search for the manual, for starters?

The boiler itself can do pumped heating and gravity hot water.

The boiler can also do pumped heating and pumped hot water, using a diverter valve.

In either case, the heating and hot water would normally be controlled by a timeswitch (aka programmer or controller), so find that and download a manual (Google search)
