panasonic tv no sound?

any clue as to why a tv would have no sound. i even tried hooking up my stereo speakers and still no sound. Do tv's have a fuse for the sound or do you think i have blown the sound chip in the tv

XXX Caution XXX, TV's have VERY dangerous voltages inside even when they have been switched off for quite a while. I would not recommend you remove the back cover.

The Amplifier inside is unlikely to have a fuse. Normally fuses in amp’s are only used when the amp uses high power drivers. It’s more likely a fault has developed with the TV set unless you have been playing within it. I did once have a customer that tried to connect his 12” portable to his stereo. He successfully blew the amp up on his TV. If the TV is relatively new I would suggest to take it to your local TV repair shop.

Whatever you do remember it’s very dangerous to fiddle with TV’s due to the very high voltage’s used to produce the picture. They still store this voltage even when they have been switched off for a while, It more than enough to kill you.
