Zanussi DE6744. Can turn on buttons all work but will not start ?

No water in bottom of machine so guess pump is ok. All buttons light up when pressed but dishwasher will not start any selected programme? Any advice would be appreciated.

Consider that no water is entering the machine - no water = no washing.
