Clicking sound from Simpson enduro 7kg top loader?

My machine fills with water, pumps it out OK but won't spin dry. The clicking is from a plastic cog in the base of spindle. I have pulled this off and it is filled with grease in the spring which looks like it acts as a clutch by tightening on the spindle within. ????

Yes you are correct in what it is and how it works. You haven't said when do you hear the clicking sound. Do you hear it when it is agitating for the wash or when it is on spin cycle? Normally you would only hear a clicking sound on agitate, that is usually a clutch problem or a broken pawl on the brake arm. Give me more info please.
