Can't open new pvc door?

Just had a new back door delivered . Paper leaflet says step 1 lift door off hinges .but I can't open the door ,I have made sure the door is unlocked but cannot pull handle down , I have also tried adjusting hinges as well but handle still won't come down . Any suggestions please
