Identification of Rollexa Garage Rolle- door Motor?

I have a great favour to ask!

I understand that you service garage roller doors made by the now defunct Rollexa Ltd. I still have one in service but the control unit (or Remote Control Receiver in Rollexa terms) no longer functions - the PCB shows signs of severe over-heating and I have little doubt that the item is beyond economical repair

I need two pieces of information about the motor used by Rollexa to allow me to make an appropriate choice of
a replacement remote control receiver. I would be most grateful if you would please tell me whether the motor used by Rollexa was an ac or dc machine and what was its nominal operating voltage.

Issue resolved. I have now heard from a very helpful Rolux the details of the Rollexa motor. Fghhdds should have put money on his hunch as he was correct - the motor is an 230/240V ac machine.

I'm grateful to both contributors.

Re your opening remarks – yes, that penny dropped after I read the first response to my problem! I had already seen the webpage to which you helpfully referred me and spoken with Rolux from whom I am expecting a return call today.

I tried to indicate, clearly unsuccessfully, in my reply to Fghhdds, that there is only one Rollexa door in question and that is the one with the defective control unit. [In my original question I meant ‘still’ in the sense that I still had such a door installed after more than 20 years rather implying that I had a second serviceable door.] Since the defective control unit provides no output whatsoever to the motor, there is no voltage to measure. As regards markings on the motor, there probably is a ratings plate but it certainly is not visible and to remove the curtain support housing to search for something that may not be present is not a task I wish to undertake.

Huh?

This site doesn't repair anything. It's just a place where casual visitors ask questions and other casual visitors offer advice

This may be of some help:

Are you sure there are no model numbers, makers ID or any rating plate on the motor itself?

I would open up the working unit, connect test leads across the motor. Reassemble. Connect test leads to a voltmeter, set on high range AC, operate motor. Switch between DC and AC until you get some kind of sensible reading then adjust the range till you find the voltage.

Having said all that, m money would be on a mains voltage motor.

Oh that I could! The remote control receiver gives no output to measure - but thank you for your very prompt reply.

Why not measure the motor supply on the functioning door? It might need some temporary measuring cables tacking in place.
