Kenwood Gourmet A532 Food Processor refuses to start?

After many years faithful service, my elderly (it must be 40 years old) Kenwood Gourmet A532 food processor has just refused to start. The mains cable connection seems fine. Any ideas what might be wrong and how to get it going again?
