easy to fix I had the same problem all you have to do is attach mp3 player then reboot pc with it attached xp might do a drive scan let it do this then let it reboot it seems to take forever but when it finally loads up you can reformat the mp3 player to fat instead of fat 32 then you will have no more problems

I was getting a corrupted message. Win XP recognised the drive but I couldn't do anything with it. In the end I had to format it from command prompt.
If your using XP then click Start then Run. then type-

format [drive letter]:

And press return. Then follow any instructions it gives you.

I have a 513/4696 which the mp3 files don't show up on, even tho they are on the player, formatted to fat and now it's working. Thanks for the advice all.

hi, i have 2 of these mp3 players and ive got the same problem with one of them. one works perfectly fine and the other switches on but then just freezes. when i plug it into the computer, it says that the file is corrupted. one thing i noticied was that it all started when i changed the battery!!

I have the same problem - all the answers posted below are sensible but have tried them all and nothing works. My FM6611 worked for about a week before failing today and I can see no logical reason why - this happened when the first battery died - first of all everything FFd for no reason then it refused to playback full stop. I think no brand name MP3 flash disks like this just tend to go wrong. Anyway - post if you find a solution, for the moment I feel your pain.

What do you mean doesn't go anywhere? Once the player iss showing as a removable drive in my computer all you have to do is copy your MP3 music tracks from where ever you store them onto the removable drive (ie the player) on the my computer screen. Not sure if that helps as not sure what you were asking.

Have You tried Running it with windows media player on copy to disk and if that dont work try to format the drive (My little 512Mb model was in a format FAT32) try formating to FAT that is what most mp3 players work with

Try removing the player then re-inserting, this should bring up Windows Media Player. If not manually open Windows Media Player.
