How do I fix a Sony Trinitron KV-32FS12?

An apparently well used Sony Trinitron KV-32FS12 has recently come into my possession and in the interest of frugality and scholarly pursuit, I would like to attempt to repair it. When I plug it in I get only a standby light and nothing else. The power button elicits a clicking sound as if turning on the TV, but nothing else. How do I go about troubleshooting this problem?

with all due respect, unless you have the test equipment and experience, you will not be able to fix this. Sonys are daunting to work on even for us techs. it could be that there is a short in the line stage and the set is in protection mode. This is tricky for the uninitiated to solve, and working in tvs needs care as it can kill, even with the set unplugged. take it to a tech or replace the set.
