My 1997 Ford Expedition OEM stereo cassette player produces sound only on the right side speakers - what might cause this and how to correct? The radio and CD works fine.

I have had the same problem with my Taurus cassette player and I don't know why it happens but what works to fix it when the left side goes out is to increase the volume until the left kicks in again and then decrease the volume back to normal. What also works is to hit the console with my fist really hard.
