What do Error Codes H20 followed by AL06 on Hotpoint Ultima DWF70 mean?

my dishwasher decided to flood the kitchen this evening. after taking off the bottom of the machine i noticed what would appear to be a diaphragm or vacuum type valve hanging down and a hose with a "y" section untapped. the bore/diameter of each suggested they should be connected together by means of the jubilee clip found at the base of the machine. I connected them up and hey presto....no leak. but now i have the above codes and the dishwasher seems to be able to start a cycle at will, even when switched off!!!!!! I've done something but i dont know what it is. The only other thing i've touched is what would appear to be an earth on the base panel which is covered in polystyrene. i had to disconnect the double spade connector from it. the connection has 3 males but the female has only 2 wires. i've connected the 2 females to the correct males but could there be a +/-? if so could this cause the symptons above if i've re-fitted the connection the wrong way round. sorry its a long question. help!!! thanks
