Hi, Although you managed to get it working, that was probably not the fault. The fault you describe is a common problem with these recorders and is usually associated with an over heating regulator on the main power supply board. If you are are competent with a soldering iron and can exercise care, you can remove the offending regulator and replace it with a new one. The component you need is an STRG6353. You will find these from several suppliers online. Open the cabinet, the regulator is mounted on the right hand side near the back on a small silver strip. Be careful when removing it as you will need to remove the board first. If you can use some heatsink compound it should help to increase the heat dissipation. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS YOUSELF IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT YOUR ABILITY. Remember to remove the power plug from the supply before attempting anything like this. The reason yours worked was probably because you allowed more ventilation to cool the board with the lid off. I would be interested to know whether you had further difficulty.
