my 98 2.5 diesel lwb transit occasionally lets fuel run back to the tank?

My 98 2.5 diesel transit seems to occasionally let fuel run from the pump back to the tank, so when you try to start it it's as if you have run out of fuel, it does eventually start but only runs on 2 or 3 cylinders until it's bled it's self which can take anything from 5 to 60 seconds. After this it runs fine, it happens on a random basis, could be twice a day or once a week. I use it daily doing 1000 miles/week and it usually starts first turn

Sorry about the delay in replying. I did as you suggested changed it from the back to the front , I also replaced all the other leak off pipes between the injectors as the were perished. So far I haven't had any problems and it seems to be running a bit smoother as well. Cheers thanks for your advice.

There was a modification that needed to be carried out to the injector leak off pipe, I would start by checking that.

Have a look at the injectors and see if the small leak off pipe comes from the back injector, if it does then it needs to be moved to the front injector.

If it is already on the front injector then post back, but this does souind like your problem.
