i just got one of these with no wires.... what do i need and how do i hook it up?

Well, this unit was not a very good design.
As long as the unit is turned on the tape deck motor will stay running. The only time the motor will stop is if you turn the unit off or if you push pause.

I ended up replacing the motor (it was going bad and stopped turning). So the motor is bad you will have to replace the motor and the resistor (my replacement resistor did not burn-up).

I also set it up so that I can turn the motor off if I am not using the tape deck and just playing CD's.

Just remember if you don't know what you are doing - Attempting repairs can be dangerous.

Hello Lee

I did some testing on the unit I have. What I found to work good is a 100 Ohm (Brown/Black/Brown).
I went to Radio Shack and bought the Metal-Oxide 1 Watt
5% tolerance (271-152 @ $1.29).

For what ever it's worth. During my test I found out that the reason for it burning up is that the load on the motor for the tape drive being too much. This would be from either a tape with too much drag and/or the tape deck need to be lubed.
Worse case the motor is bad.

It works great now :)
