The most common cause of roof leaks is flashings faulty.
Look where lead is chased into brickwork around chimneys etc. Broken tiles will obviously cause leaks but dont always expect to find a broken tile directly above a leak, water can run down between the tiles and underfelt, so its possible for a leaking ridge tile to cause an apparent leak at the outer wall edge of a room.
