How can I get my VCR to eject a tape?

There is a video cassette stuck in my VCR. It is a JVC VHS Hi-Fi, Model # HR-J692U). WHat happens is that when I press the eject button, the cassette rises up vertically, so that I could almost grasp it, but then, instead of ejecting, it just goes back down.

turn it off at the mains. leave it and then when you turn it back on vids generally open the cassette drawer. if it still sticks then probably quicker and cheaper to by a new machine

Turn the VCR onto its lid and try eject. If this works disconnect the power and check inside for rubbish such as cassette labels.

probably a slack loading belt, open the undercarriage if poss and see if theres something whining or straining. helping it with a finger may just do it, then you can replace the belt.

try osting also on alt.video.vcr.
